About WirtschaftsEcho
Independent economic journalism from the heart of Hamburg. For more than fifteen years, we have reported on business, finance and policy developments across Germany and Europe — clearly, carefully, and without influence from advertisers or special interests.
Who We Are
WirtschaftsEcho is an independent economic newsroom based at Ballindamm in Hamburg. Our team of editors, economists and sector specialists follows markets, companies and policymakers so that our readers can make informed decisions — whether they run a business, manage investments or simply want to understand the forces shaping the economy.
We publish in both German and English, serving professionals across the DACH region and international readers who follow European economic affairs. Our coverage spans daily market briefings, quarterly sector reports, and continuous tracking of legislation and regulation.
We believe good economic journalism is measured by accuracy, context and independence — not by speed alone. Every article is reviewed by at least two editors before publication.
Our Editorial Values
Independence
Editorial and commercial teams are strictly separated. We publish our funding and ownership structure openly, and no advertiser influences our coverage.
Rigour
Every figure is checked against primary sources. Where estimates appear, we say so. Corrections are published promptly and visibly.
Clarity
We write for decision-makers who are short on time: plain language, clear structure, and the context needed to understand why a development matters.
European Focus
From Frankfurt to Brussels, we cover the institutions, markets and industries that shape the European economy — with a strong grounding in Germany.
How We Work
Our day begins before the markets open. Overnight developments in Asia and the US are reviewed, key indicators are checked against official releases, and the morning briefing is finalised by 6:30 CET for delivery before the European opening bell.
Throughout the day, our reporters track central bank communications, corporate announcements and policy debates. Sector specialists contribute quarterly reports on industries ranging from manufacturing and logistics to fintech and renewable energy.
- Monday–Friday: Daily market briefing sent each weekday morning
- Continuously: Breaking news and market updates around the clock
- Quarterly: In-depth sector reports with forecasts and risk assessments
- On demand: Custom briefings and background calls via editorial consulting
